NBC News exclusively accompanied Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul to Guatemala on his first international medical mission to perform eye surgery on people in need. Senior White House correspondent Chris Jansing will report on the humanitarian aspects of the trip, but also on the political ramifications as Paul eyes a run for the presidency in 2016.
NBC was given unprecedented access to the senator as he worked in a makeshift operating room in a small town in Guatemala.
During her multiple interviews with the rising political figure, Chris asked him about his political motivations for the trip in addition to other issues including immigration, health care, education, 2016 politics and Hillary Clinton. Paul also discusses race relations in the U.S. and makes his first on-camera comments about the situation in Ferguson, Missouri.
