Ted Cruz: 'The Entire Country is Looking to Indiana'

Ted Cruz is stressing the importance of Indiana to his campaign, but he isn't quite ready to say that the state is where he is making his last stand.

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, seems to be going all in on Indiana. With the state’s primary just days away, Cruz declared in an interview with NBC's Chuck Todd, “The entire country is looking to Indiana. And I think the country is really depending on Indiana to choose the direction of this race."

While stressing the importance of the Hoosier state, Cruz refused to say he would drop out of the race if he loses there Tuesday. “Indiana is an important state, we are competing hard,” Cruz said.

He also dismissed the idea that a loss in Indiana would be a rejection of the conservative policy solutions he’s campaigning on. “I don’t believe so. I think the support we’re seeing is surging,” the Texas senator said.

But will his support surge enough?

Cruz is behind in multiple polls out of Indiana, but he hopes to turn the tide with an endorsement from the state’s governor, Mike Pence. “There’s a reason Gov. Mike Pence offered his support. He’s hearing from Hoosiers across the state that – that don’t want a campaign that is based on yelling and bullying. They want real solutions," Cruz said.
