Where Have All the Popular Politicians Gone?

Yes, it’s early in the 2016 presidential election. And yes, as a result, you should take 2016 polling with a grain of salt. But a new Washington Post/ABC survey confirms what our own NBC/WSJ polling has shown: There aren’t many popular politicians in the mix – especially on the GOP side.

Here are the favorable/unfavorable scores for the potential contenders among *all* voters .

Hillary Clinton leads all GOP challengers by double digits in hypothetical general-election matchups. But no matter the ultimate Republican nominee, those margins will tighten.

Interestingly, 73 percent of respondents say they approve of Bill Clinton’s job as president when looking back on his job, versus 47 percent who say the same of George W. Bush. President Obama’s approval rating in the poll was 47 percent.
