A second member of the K-pop girl band Ladies’ Code, 23-year-old RiSe (Kwon Ri-Sae), is reported to have died of her injuries following the band’s September 3 car accident.

The band was traveling from Daegu to Seoul when their rental van’s back wheel fell off, causing it to crash. RiSe is reported to have sustained serious head injuries in the accident and endured nine hours of emergency brain surgery which had to be suspended when her blood pressure dropped too low to continue. She had been in a coma in the intensive care unit since then.

Ladies’ Code member EunB (Go Eun-Bi) died shortly after the accident, bandmate Sojung was treated for a fractured jaw and arm, and bandmembers Ashley and Zuny were treated for shock.

Ladies' Code's label, Polaris Entertainment, reportedly released a statement, “We hope that you will remember the bright and beautiful RiSe and EunB for a long time. Please continue to pray and send your support to their family members and Ashley, Sojung, and Zuny."

Since the accident, which has shaken the K-pop community, some K-pop stars and local media have questioned the intense performance schedules of K-pop bands.

RiSe’s funeral will be September 9. A Worldwide Candlelight Vigil is being organized by fans for the evening of September 8.
