Gaurab Bansal, 37
Deputy Assistant to the President and Deputy Cabinet Secretary, White House
Hometown: Baltimore + Seattle
How did you get here?
Prior to joining the Administration, I had the privilege to serve as a public school teacher, an attorney to technology and other startup companies, and a lawyer for the President’s 2012 re-election campaign.
Who or what has been the greatest influence on your career?
My parents, the students I worked with when I served as a public school teacher, and the teachers and professional mentors who patiently encouraged me along the way.
What do you consider your greatest accomplishment during the Obama administration?
I am still writing the story of my contributions to the Administration. There is a lot of work to get across the finish line, and I am very focused on doing my part down the stretch.
Can you describe your time working for the Obama administration in 10 words?
Collaborate with optimistic, big-hearted colleagues to increase opportunities for all.
Complete the sentence: “When I’m not working, I…”
I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking, and, if I am incredibly fortunate, playing a round of golf.
