John Cho to Star in 'Columbus,' Drama Directed by Kogonada: Report

The film will be Kogonada's feature directorial debut. Kogonada is previously known for his film criticism.

John Cho of "Star Trek," "Harold and Kumar," and #StarringJohnCho fame will be starring in the upcoming "Columbus," a dramatic film by Korean-American director Kobonada, according to a report by Variety.

Cho will be joined in the cast by Parker Posey, Haley Lu Richardson, Michelle Forbes, and Rory Culkin. The film will be Kogonada's feature directorial debut, according to Variety. Kogonada is previously known for his film criticism, which has been featured in the Criterion Collection and Sight & Sound magazine as well as on his website.

The film is currently shooting in Columbus, Indiana, where it is also set. Kogonada told Variety that the city inspired him with its architecture. The story will focus on two people from different parts of the world mourning the potential loss of a parent, the director told the publication. Cho will play the son of a well-known architecture critic. Richardson will play the daughter of an addict. Posey will play Cho's father's love interest.

An expected release date has not been announced.
