"Quantico" star Priyanka Chopra will present an Academy Award at this year's ceremony, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced Monday. Also included in the list of new presenters who will take the stage are actresses Olivia Munn, Kerry Washington, and music producer Quincy Jones.
The Bollywood actress and former Miss World has made headlines in the U.S. since last year when she became the first South Asian lead on an American network drama series. Chopra won the People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Actress in a New TV Series” for "Quantico" in January, and also recently presented at the Screen Actors Guild Awards on Jan. 30.
The Academy's announcement also listed Korean actor Lee Byung-hun among the presenters. The announcement about Lee's involvement in the ceremony was announced last month by the actor's agency.
The Academy Awards are scheduled to be held on Feb. 28 in Los Angeles. The Academy has come under fire over the last month for its nominee lists, which have lacked diverse representation.
