Lanie Alabanza-Barcena, founder and creative director of HLZBLZ, talks fashion, streetwear, and how she went from designing in her spare time while working at Rocawear to seeing her shirts on Beyoncé.

"Self-Starters," a five-episode series from NBC Asian America, explores the stories of entrepreneurs whose unique stories include one common thread: the pursuit of the American dream.

New episodes of "Self-Starters" are available on Tuesdays through April 26 and can be watched on NBCAsianAmerica.com, NBC Asian America's Facebook page, NBC News' official YouTube channel, and the NBC News app available on mobile devices, Roku, Apple TV, and Amazon Fire TV.

"Self-Starters" is part of "NBC Asian America Presents...," a new video channel that will feature documentaries centered around themes and voices found in Asian American and Pacific Islander communities.
