A 62-year-old woman was killed in her sleep early Saturday when a stolen car crashed through a wall of her central Florida home, police said.

The 24-year-old driver, Jakeilah Weeks, is facing a slew of charges after a domestic altercation with her ex-boyfriend spiraled into the deadly accident, Sarasota police said in a news release.

Just before 3:30 a.m., officers were called to the scene of a domestic situation and burglary. Police said Weeks, of Tampa, had attempted to break into her ex-boyfriend's home.

When officers tried approaching her, she jumped into her ex-boyfriend's car and sped away.

Police said they started pursuing her on foot, but she quickly crashed the car into the back bedroom wall of a nearby home belonging to Eleanor Ball, who was sleeping at the time. Ball died at the scene.

Weeks was taken to the hospital and later to the Sarasota County Jail. She is being held on a $9,000 bond on four of the six charges.

The charges are for two counts of battery, vehicular homicide and manslaughter, property theft, burglary, and obstruction of justice and of property.
