Homebuyer Shot and Killed in Fort Lauderdale

A man who was searching for potential homes to buy was shot and killed during a robbery in Fort Lauderdale Thursday, authorities said.

According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, someone entered the home at 2729 Northwest Sixth Court around 10 a.m. and shot the man inside the house.

Witnesses tell NBC 6 South Florida that a realtor was showing that home to a couple when an armed subject came in and demanded the man's chain. That's when witnesses say he was shot and killed.

Authorities said the man was inside the home with his wife and a real estate agent when the shooting happened. The wife and real estate agent weren't hurt.

The man was taken to Broward Health Medical Center where he later died. He was later identified as 51-year-old Kenol Jean, of Pompano Beach.

The suspect fled the scene. BSO officials described him as a black male in his mid to late 50s with salt and pepper hair and beard. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
