A Washington state mom remained jailed Tuesday on $3 million bail after police said she tried to slit her three young children's throats because they wouldn't stop crying. Christina Booth, 29, of Olympia sobbed as she faced a Thurston County judge on Monday and was charged with three counts of attempted murder of a child, NBC affiliate KING5 reported. Booth's children — 6-month-old twin girls and a 2-year-old daughter — were in critical condition.

Booth reportedly placed a 911 call shortly after 1 a.m. Sunday. The mother said her children wouldn't stop crying and that they were bleeding from their necks, Olympia police said. The girls suffered knife wounds after Booth allegedly slashed their throats with a kitchen knife. Booth repeatedly said, "They will be quiet now," police Lt. Jim Costa told KING5. Booth's husband, a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army Special Forces, was home at the time but didn't witness the incident, and helped to provide medical aid before paramedics arrived, Costa said. Booth is being treated for postpartum depression and told police her husband would get annoyed when the children cried.
