1. Poll: Clinton's Lead Narrows Among Independents, Voters Nationally

Hillary Clinton's national lead over Donald Trump continues to narrow. Clinton now leads Trump 48 percent to 44 percent, a decline of 2 points since last week, according to results from the latest NBC News|SurveyMonkey Weekly Election Tracking Poll. In a four-way match-up, Clinton leads Trump by just 2 points — 42 percent to 40 percent. Read more in POLITICS.

2. Hillary Suffered Similar Illness After Working 'Like a Demon': Bill

Hillary Clinton has previously suffered "the same sort" of illness that saw her abruptly leave this weekend's Sept. 11 memorial, Bill Clinton said Monday. "Rarely, but on more than one occasion of the last many, many years, the same sort of thing's happened to her where she got severely dehydrated," Bill Clinton told Charlie Rose in an interview that aired on PBS on Monday. "She's worked like a demon, as you know, as secretary of state and as a senator and in the years since." Read more in POLITICS.

3. Protester Attacked as Trump Decries 'Deplorables' Comment

Just as Donald Trump at a rally Monday was decrying Hillary Clinton for having called called "half" of his supporters "a basket of deplorables," an altercation broke out in the stands above him. NBC News video of the incident shows a man in the crowd with his hands on a protester's neck. Moments later, his hands furled into fists, the man lobbed a blow at the protester. Read more in NEWS.

4. Germany Arrests 3 in Suspected of ISIS Link

Three Syrian men suspected of being sent to Germany by ISIS were arrested Tuesday, officials said. The trio were detained in a massive police operation in the northern German state of Schleswig-Holstein. Read more in NEWS.

5. U.S. B-1B Bombers Fly Near North Korea Following Nuclear Test

The United States on Tuesday sent two nuclear-capable supersonic bombers streaking over ally South Korea in a show of force meant to cow North Korea after its recent nuclear test. The B-1B bombers, escorted by U.S. and South Korean jets, were seen by an Associated Press photographer as they flew over Osan Air Base, which is 75 miles from the border with North Korea. 6. Two Men Arrested After Storming Stage as Ryan Lochte Dances With the Stars

Two men were arrested Monday night after crashing disgraced Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte's live debut on ABC's "Dancing With the Stars," police told NBC News. Sam Sododeh, 48, and Barzeen Soroudi, 40, both of Los Angeles, walked onto the stage area after Lochte's and Cheryl Burke's performance before security tackled them to the ground, law enforcement sources told NBC News. The men were authorized audience members, but later changed into anti-Lochte T-shirts to disrupt the broadcast. Read more in POP CULTURE.

7. Arsonist Damages Mosque That Orlando Gunman Omar Mateen Once Attended

A mosque where Orlando gunman Omar Mateen once worshipped was set on fire early Monday by an arsonist who apparently fled after being caught on security video, authorities said. No one was inside the Islamic Center of Fort Pierce when the attack took place just after midnight, police said. The mosque is known as being one of the places Mateen attended prayers in the months before he killed 49 people at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando in June. Read more in NEWS.

8. New Video Shows Slain Jogger on Day She Vanished

Police have released new surveillance video showing what may have been Karina Vetrano's final moments on Aug. 2 before she was found killed near her home in Queens, New York.The video shows Vetrano jogging near her Howard Beach home. She was later found sexually assaulted and strangled. Read more at NBC NEW YORK.
