Now that the opening weeks of ‘On Your Feet!’ are over, stars Josh Segarra and Ana Villafañe sat down with NBC Latino and reflected on their roles as Emilio and Gloria Estefan on the musical which has become a Broadway hit.

"I believe in what we are talking about, we are all very passionate about the story we are telling," Villafañe said to NBC Latino's Jack Rico.

The actors talked about playing one of the more well-known musical couples, known for their solid, decades-long marriage and their success at making their bilingual and bicultural music part of the mainstream.

They also spoke of connecting nightly with audiences who clearly love - and recognize - Estefan's iconic songs.

On a more personal note, the young Broadways stars talked about their families' reactions to their roles in the hit show.

"My mom, when she watches me and stuff, she isn't watching the story, she's watching her son, she's watching her baby," said Segarra. "With 'On Your Feet', I'll always remember looking out during the curtain call and seeing my mom crying." He added that even though the show is doing well, "my mom still asks how we are selling; 'Papi, are people going? Did you sell out?'" Segarra said laughing. "I feel like I'm at a place where my mama can relax a little bit now."
