Rochester Police are searching for the man they say videotaped another man raping a young girl.
Shahmell Robinson, 21, is charged with child pornography after allegedly raping a 14-year-old girl while a friend recorded it on a cell phone.
The assault happened at an apartment complex in Greece less than two weeks ago. In court documents, FBI agents say that the young teen appeared to be "unconscious on a bathroom floor." He says one man films the attack, while Robinson "is seen repeatedly looking at the camera and speaking to the camera."
United States Attorney William J. Hochul, Jr. said, "Certainly a very important case and one that is deserving of federal prosecution at this point."
The video was later posted on Facebook.
Mary Whittier is the Executive Director at Bivona child Advocacy Center. She said, "She is not only the victim of sexual assault, she is the victim of this now getting posted online. So, in some ways, it's re-victimization over and over and over again."
In an interview with police, the victim said she had been drinking the night of the alleged rape and did not remember what happened. Court documents state 22-year-old Jordon McCloud has been identified as the man recording the video. He's also facing child pornography charges and police are asking for the public's help to find him. Hochul said, "They are not going to rest until anybody who had anything to do with this particular crime is brought to justice."
Jordon McCloud is not yet in custody. Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police.
Robinson is being held in the Monroe County Jail. If convicted, both men would face a minimum of 15 years behind bars, a 250,000 dollar fine or both.
