The 2016 Critics’ Choice Awards nominees were announced Monday morning and African-Americans were nominated in 17 categories including Best Acting Ensemble for “Straight Outta Compton” and Best Drama Series for “Empire.”

It may come as no surprise that Viola Davis and Taraji P. Henson were nominated for Best Actress in a Drama Series for "How to Get Away With Murder" and "Empire," respectively.

Many fans celebrated the fact that "Black-ish," the ABC sitcom that was snubbed by the Golden Globes got nods. It received 4 nominations in total, including one for each lead. Check out the nominees and the categories below.

The Critics’ Choice Awards will air Jan. 17 simultaneously on A&E, Lifetime and LMN.
