Barack and Michelle Obama, Muhammad Ali, Harriet Tubman and Prince are some of the people being featured in a new mural at a landmark restaurant in Washington.
Artist Aniekan Udofia began the mural Thursday evening at Ben’s Chili Bowl. The mural, named “The Torch,” pays tribute to African American culture. The work is scheduled to be complete with the artist's signature vibrant colors by mid-June, according to The Washington Post.
The restaurant announced earlier this year that it was “time to refresh and repaint” an earlier mural that dated to 2012. Udofia also created that mural which featured other celebrities including comedian Bill Cosby.
The restaurant came up with a list of over 50 people and asked customers to vote on who they would like to see on the new mural.
