Boehner 'hasn't ruled out' calling House back to DC for Syria debate

House Speaker John Boehner has not ruled out calling members of the House back to Washington to address potential military action in Syria, a spokesman says.

Asked if representatives - not due to return to Capitol Hill until September 9 - could be called back early due to the situation in Syria, spokesman Michael Steel said that "the Speaker hasn't ruled it out."

For Congress to return from its scheduled five-week recess, both Boehner and Senate Majority Leader Harry would have to call back their respective chambers.

That action would likely be at the behest of a request from President Barack Obama.
