Bush Center, White House swap tweets on immigration

Continuing their recent public rapport over immigration issues, the offices of a former president (who failed to pass a comprehensive bill) and the current president (who is trying to) swapped good-natured tweets Thursday.

"Hey @TheBushCenter, liked your video on #ImmigrationReform and the economy," the official White House Twitter account posted Thursday, including links to two web videos about the issue.

The Bush Center, the official Twitter page of the George W. Bush Presidential Center and library, responded.

"Thanks, @whitehouse!" the Bush account posted. "Right back at you. Good to have people talking about the important connection between growth and immigration."

President George W. Bush spoke earlier this week about the importance of immigration reform, although he did not comment on the specifics of bills being addressed in Congress.

"I do hope there is a positive resolution to the debate," he said during a naturalization ceremony for new immigrants on Wednesday in Texas. "I hope during the debate, we keep a benevolent spirit in mind and we understand the contributions immigrants make to our country."
