A monstrous once-in-a-decade typhoon loomed over Japan on Tuesday, snarling travel and shipping operations and prompting officials at the decimated Fukushima nuclear power plant to take emergency precautions.

Typhoon Wipha was barreling across the Pacific directly towards the capital of Tokyo, where it is expected to make landfall amid the Wednesday morning rush hour, hammering the metropolitan area with hurricane-force winds. Continue reading.
