Democrat Ralph Northam is the projected winner of the Virginia lieutenant governor's race. Northam's win was widely expected over firebrand pastor E.W. Jackson (R), a political neophyte selected by the state party at its convention.
Democrats hope to sweep all three races -- the governor's and attorney general's race, but the other two are too close to call at this point.
