NBC's Ayman Mohyeldin answers reader questions on Egypt

11:07

CAIRO – Egypt is in turmoil a day after clashes between security forces and supporters of ousted President Mohammed Morsi left at least 525 dead, according to the health ministry.

The Muslim Brotherhood pledged to bring down Egypt’s military-backed interim government after the violent clashes.

What do the latest clashes mean for Egypt’s future? Is more violence expected? Has the interim government lost its support among the general public as a result of the violent clearance of the protest camps? How can stability be restored to the long-time U.S. ally?

NBC’s Ayman Mohyeldin answered reader questions on Egypt earlier today. Mohyeldin has covered Egypt for years – including the popular uprising in 2011 that set the current conflict in motion.
