Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, authors of the new book "Double Down: Game Change 2012" think President Obama’s second term will shape the way Democrats run in 2016.
“The Democratic Party now is going to be defined in 2016 by Barack Obama, whatever happens in his second term,” said Halperin. “And so the party is going to have to double down on him, they’re going to have to double down on his policies.”
The duo, who also wrote 2010’s “Game Change,”share their thoughts on a potential 2016 presidential run by New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
“He’s an original. He’s exciting…But in this party, the person who gets the nomination has tended to be, in the modern era, the person whose turn it was, the person who understands how to play by the rules. He ain’t that. If he’s the nominee, he’s not going to change….He’s going to be breaking the mold,” said Halperin.
