A protest in the northern Italian town of Susa took an unexpected turn Saturday when one of the demonstrators planted a tender kiss on a riot police officer's visor.
Thousands of people staged a demonstration against the building of a high-speed train line that will pass through the Alpine villlage, Agence France-Presse reported.
The line, expected to come into service in 2025, will reduce the train journey between Paris and Milan from seven hours to just over four, but campaigners say it is costing too much.
