Have trouble letting go of your comfy summer wear?
Teva hears you. That's why the sandal brand partnered with Woolrich to extend the closet shelf life of your beloved open-toed footwear — into fall.
With socks.
The debated runway trend of pairing your toe pajamas with beach footwear was mocked by many this past summer, but Teva is taking it seriously, going so far as to launch a new package deal of their sandals with color-coordinated Woolrich socks. The bundle, $65, will be available at teva.com, woolrich.com and select Urban Outfitter locations on Oct. 14.
While designers such as Hermes and Vivienne Tam have featured the fad in last spring's Fashion Week shows, it has yet to really catch on mainstream. It might have its own Wikipedia page — aptly titled "socks-in-sandals" — but the average bear has likely been shy to try it (in public). So far, only the truly fearless and outrageous (namely Gwyneth Paltrow and Alec Baldwin) have been spotted in the wild with their footsies covered.
But are we be being too harsh? Should we expel half of our footwear come fall just because we're too emberrassed to give into a workaround? It just seems like one of those trends that generally only works on highly-stylized models, but rarely works on the rest of us. Although, pairing sleek socks with open-toed high-heeled sandals can look rather cute though, as displayed by Band of Outsiders on the Spring 2014 catwalk.
What do you think? Is it a fall must-try, or something we should just leave to the fashion bloggers?
