Soldiers rescue mom and 7 pups

An Afghanistan dog that bonded with a National Guard unit serving in the region now is stateside. In 2012 a team of 12 soldiers deployed to a remote base in Afghanistan. That's where they met a stray dog, which they named Sheba. Camaraderie built between the soldiers and the dog. In March, Sheba gave birth to seven puppies.

Knowing the dangers of a stray dog’s life in Afghanistan, the soldiers raised enough money to bring the dog and her puppies back to the United States with the aid of three groups. Learn more about Guardians of Rescue, Nowzad Dogs and Save-A-Pet.
