Three Americans killed by suicide bomber on donkey in Afghanistan

KABUL, Afghanistan - Three American service members were killed by a suicide bomber on a donkey in eastern Afghanistan Tuesday, officials said.

The International Security Assistance Force announced the casualties in a statement, saying the release of their names and nationalities would be left “to the relevant national authorities.”

An Afghan official told NBC News that three of the victims killed in the attack in Said Abad, Wardak province, were American.

A U.S. military official said that an Afghan translator accompanying the troops was also killed.

The attacker was riding a donkey when he approached the U.S. personnel and detonated the bomb. According to a U.S. military official, the bomber and the donkey were also killed in the attack.
