Officials at the Air Force Academy in Colorado said Friday they are "vigilant" after an online jihadist magazine included the campus as a suggested terrorism target. The publication by Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula calls for lone-wolf attacks, offers bomb-making instructions and gives examples of a wide range of targets, the SITE Intelligence Group reported. The venues include tourist meccas like Times Square, corporations in the U.S. and Britain and security-linked installations like the air force academy.
In a statement to NBC affiliate KOAA, the academy acknowledged the threat. "We remain vigilant and maintain all the appropriate protocols of a military installation to include force protection and being cognizant of existing and emerging threats," it said. "Our primary concern is always the security and the safety of the cadets, our personnel and the thousands of visitors who come to USAFA every year."
