Authorities in Arizona have found what they believe to be the bodies of a couple who had been missing for more than a week, police said early Thursday.

The bodies believed to be that of Michael and Tina Careccia were found during a search of a property in their home city of Maricopa, Pinal County Sheriff Paul Babeu said in a statement.

A man who lives at the property has also been taken into custody and investigators were continuing to gather evidence from the scene, the statement said.

The Careccias have been missing since June 22. They planned to run an errand that day and never returned, according to family members.

The sheriff's office said earlier that officials were "confident that foul play is involved in their disappearance."

"We knew there was foul play from the get-go," Geoff Dugan, Michael Careccia's brother-in-law, told reporters Wednesday. "There’s no reason they wouldn’t come home" or make contact, he said.

Michael and Tina Careccia were reported missing at 7 p.m. June 22, and their dusty 2008 Honda Accord was found about a half-mile away, NBC station KPNX reported.

Dugan’s family and the Careccias live in the same home. Dugan said he last saw the missing couple the night of June 21, and they were supposed to head out on an errand the next day — but Tina Careccia left her purse behind. The bill she was supposed to deliver to a business, in the form of a flash drive, was also left behind, he said.

"We don't know. We need answers," Dugan said.

Michael, 44 and Tina, 42, Careccia went missing on Monday June 22nd and were said to have left their home to run errands that morning at 5 a.m.
