Caitlyn Jenner gave an emotional speech at the ESPY Awards in Los Angeles Wednesday, calling upon some of the country's biggest names in sports to promote acceptance, in her highest-profile appearance yet since announcing her transition to a woman.
The famous Olympian, who inspired a generation when she was known as Bruce Jenner, became emotional when describing the support of her family under what she said has been a challenging, but worthwhile, process.
Jenner's daughter, Kylie Jenner, tweeted: "I love my dad" after the speech at the ESPY Awards show in Los Angeles.
Hip-hop mogul Russell Simmons said Jenner delivered a "beautiful, moving, inspiring speech." Musician Questlove tweeted a simple "All respect due."
Many called Jenner's speech powerful, and others said it "stole the show." Bonnie Fuller, former longtime editor-in-chief of Cosmopolitan and and Glamour, called the speech "an incredible moment."
Monica Lewinsky even weighed in, calling it "beautiful" in all capital letters.
