A California man who found a $20 bill multiplied his luck by 50,000 — using the cash to buy a lottery ticket that won him $1 million.
Hubert Tang said he hadn’t played the lottery in a decade. But when he found the cash outside the San Francisco airport, he decided to use it on two $10 scratch-off tickets, according to a statement from the California Lottery.
One of them hit the jackpot.
"I told my friend who I was with that I didn’t know if it was real but ‘I think I just won a million dollars,’” Tang, a bartender, said in a statement provided by the California Lottery.
The store that sold the ticket, about five miles from the airport, will be awarded $5,000.
Tang told lottery officials he doesn't have any immediate plans to spend the money and will probably sock it away. But he does have an idea for a small portion of it.
“Maybe I’ll start leaving $20 bills on the street in random places,” he said.
