A Coast Guard air crew rescued a mother and her 15-month-old daughter from the roof of their flooded house in South Carolina early Sunday morning, the Coast Guard said in a release.
Cristi Mueller and her infant child, Kailynn Walts, became trapped by severe flooding in their home in Huger, north of Charleston, the release said. After being hoisted from their house into a helicopter, Mueller and Walts were transported to a Coast Guard station in Georgia, where they were in good condition.

"Me and my husband are very proud of our Coast Guard," Mueller said. "They went above and beyond and made something scary a lot less traumatic."
