The discovery of a partially dismembered woman's body in the weeds of a Long Island parking lot sent investigators to the beachfront burial ground of one or more suspected serial killers. Suffolk County cops said Wednesday that authorities found nothing to connect the body to 10 sets of remains recovered around Gilgo Beach, about 15 miles away, in 2010 and 2011. "But the investigation is continuing," a police spokeswoman said.
Two people walking to catch a ferry early Tuesday spotted the body in the lot, NBC New York reported. The woman's legs had been partially cut off, but it was unclear if she was killed there or somewhere else, and an autopsy will determine the cause and time of death. Police believe one or two killers may be responsible for the bodies found at Gilgo Beach. Several of those identified were prostitutes.
