The convicted felon whose "dreamy" mugshot went viral on social media got some unfortunate news during a brief court appearance on Tuesday. Jeremy Meeks, 30, who was arrested in June during a gang sweep in Stockton, Calif., and faced multiple felony weapons charges, was turned over to federal prosecutors Tuesday, according to NBC affiliate KCRA. The state dropped its charges against Meeks and he will return to Sacramento to face federal weapons charges.

Meeks' mugshot became an online sensation after it was uploaded to the Stockton Police Department's Facebook page in June, inspiring swoons across the country.
