A Boston "duck tour" collided Saturday with a motorized scooter, killing the scooter's driver and injuring her passenger, police said.

The sightseeing vehicle crashed into the scooter at about 11:30 a.m. ET in downtown Boston, police spokeswoman Rachel McGuire told NBC News.

A 29-year-old woman died, while a male passenger on the scooter sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Massachusetts General Hospital.

The duck boat, an amphibious vessel that gives tours of the city by water and by land, had about 28 passengers on board at the time of the accident. They were all transported to police headquarters for interviews, McGuire said.

The cause of the accident is under investigation. No charges were filed as of Saturday afternoon.

Bob Schwartz, a spokesman for Boston Duck Tours, told NBC News the company was "cooperating with the police to see what happened by trying to access video footage by the scene of the incident."

The safety of duck boats came under scrutiny last September when a duck tour collided with a charter bus in Seattle, killing four and injuring more than 50 people.
