Searchers on Tuesday made a grisly discovery when divers found the bodies of three missing family members of a boy who was found drowned in a Oregon lake the day before.
Officials are calling the deaths of Jova Ixtacua-Castano, 42; her son, 13-year-old Michael Garcia-Ixtacua; her 25-year-old daughter, Gabriela Garcia-Ixtacua; and Gabriela’s 3-year-old son, Jeremy Scholl, a “very unfortunate tragedy,” NBC affiliate KGW reported.
The 3-year-old was pulled from Henry Hagg Lake in northwest Oregon Monday, and although officials found towels and shoes on a nearby beach the child’s family members were nowhere to be found, according to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. On Tuesday the other three bodies were discovered. There are no signs of foul play, and sheriff’s Sgt. Bob Ray told the station it appears the child got into trouble and the others went in after him. Henry Hagg Lake is about 30 miles west of Portand.
