Guests who plan to attend an Iowa high school's graduation ceremony this weekend might find themselves wondering: "Hey, didn't that kid walk across the stage already?"
The class of 2015 at Valley High School in West Des Moines boasts 15 sets of twins, according to NBC affiliate WHO. You read that right.
About four years ago, the parents of one of the sets of twins noticed their kids were part of an unusually large group of twins in the grade. They decided to do an official tally, and found out 32 of the 711 students were twins. One set of twins has since moved out of the district, according to the station.
In their freshman year, the students made it into the Guinness Book of World Records — but they were edged out by a fifth grade class in Illinois, which had 24 pairs of twins and still holds the record. The class spoke with TODAY when they were in their freshman year.
One set of twins — Jacob and Jeffrey Goetz — love sharing their story, and they can't wait to do so in college. "Everybody always asks us ... and we say, 'Of course we’re twins,'" said Jacob Goetz. "Then you go on to say, 'We came from a record setting school where we had 16 sets of twins,' and they say, 'Wow.'"
