The case has not yet been given to the jury, but South Florida law enforcement already is preparing for a verdict in the George Zimmerman trial.
The Broward County, Fla., Sheriff's Office released a public service announcement entitled, “Raise Your Voice, Not Your Hands,” that aims to encourage nonviolent demonstrations once a ruling has been determined. The video features teenagers who ask viewers to “give violence a rest, cause we could easily end up arrested.”
"We don't have information about a specific event that might take place at the conclusion of the trial, but we encourage everyone to keep any protests peaceful," Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel told NBC News affiliate WLTV.
Zimmerman has pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder charges in in the death of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin. He says he was acting in self-defense and the teen attacked him.
Martin lived in Broward County and was visiting his father in the central Florida city of Sanford on the night he died. The trial in Sanford is in its 22nd day.
In anticipation of the trial's end, the hashtag “#KeepCalmforTrayvon” is trending on Twitter. The Martin and Zimmerman families also have appealed for peace.
