Ford Motor Chairman Bill Ford poses next to a fully-assembled 2015 Mustang convertible after an unveiling to honor the Mustang's 50th anniversary on the 86th floor observation deck of the Empire State Building as part of the New York International Auto Show on Wednesday.

But Ford has done this before. In October of 1965, the company disassembled a Mustang into four sections and brought it to the top of the Empire State Building, where it was reassembled and put on display for the first time.
