The teenage girl who survived a painful diving mishap at an Idaho water park with only minor injuries told NBC News she wasn't scared to jump off the platform.

"Everyone in the media is saying that I was scared, but I wasn't scared — I was jumping off the platforms all day," 17-year-old Taylor Jo Roberts told NBC News Thursday.

With just about half an hour before closing at Lava Hot Springs Water Park, Taylor said she and her sister's boyfriend decided to jump off the same platform.

"I didn't think I had much momentum, so I was going to stop myself, and he jumped off and I grabbed the rail and slipped," she said.

Taylor said she doesn't remember the next few seconds.

"I blacked out, I don't remember hitting the first platform or hitting the water. All I remember was popping up and I was in shock and panicking," she said. "I was so close to the concrete that the lifeguard came to grab me right away. Another one came to help her because she couldn't pull me out, I was like a dead fish."

Even just watching the video of her fall gets her heart racing, she added.

"I had nightmares every night for a week. It felt like I was falling," Taylor said. "The night I was sent home from the hospital, every time I would shut my eyes, it felt like I was falling."

And, she added, she will never jump off a diving board again. "Once you go through something like that, you don’t forget.”
