A husband and wife viciously beaten during a string of attacks in south Kansas City, Missouri, last week have died, police said Tuesday. Ann Taylor, 86, and her 80-year-old husband, George, had been hospitalized since the Sept. 2 incident, which left three others dead. In a statement obtained by NBC affiliate KSHB, the elderly couple's family said: "George and Ann died peacefully and we are blessed that they left this Earth together. They were married more than 40 years, and loved each other dearly."
Three other people were shot dead in the same neighborhood amid the crime spree: Susan Choucroun, 69, and a mother and son — Lorene Hurst, 88, and Darrel Hurst, 63. The suspect, 34-year-old Brandon Howell, faces three counts of first-degree murder and other charges related to the attack. Howell was accused of murder in the 1998 killing of two teenagers. He was acquitted in 2009.
