A Kentucky teen accused of a multi-state crime spree refused to stay in court on Thursday.

Dalton Hayes, 18, entered the Grayson County courtroom for his preliminary hearing. However, he was escorted out less than two minutes later after spotting members of the media. “I’m not staying here," Hayes said. "No disrespect to your courtroom or nothing but I’m not staying here with that media."

Hayes pleaded not guilty last week to a number of charges involving a two-week crime spree he allegedly went on with a 13-year-old girl. Authorities say they stole three cars, including one that contained two handguns, and led police in a chase across four states before finally being captured in Florida.

Hayes’ next scheduled court appearance will be February 5 after he undergoes a competency evaluation requested by his attorney, NBC affiliate station WAVE reported.
