A New Orleans restaurant has fired one of its employees after a receipt with a racial slur on it circulated online.

Huck Finn's Cafe said in a statement on its website that it was "shocked and appalled" by the unidentified employee, who allegedly gave a customer a receipt with the N-word on it and "100 % Dislike" printed underneath.

A photo of the receipt was uploaded to Facebook with the caption "This receipt was given to my daughter. We need an advocate and a lawyer ASAP." The receipt was dated May 21, 2015 and had Huck Finn's logo printed on it, but could not be verified as authentic by NBC News.

"The unfortunate actions of this one employee do not mirror the mission of Huck Finn’s Cafe’s firm non-discrimination policy, and we are extremely apologetic for any inconvenience this may have caused," the restaurant said.

A manager at the restaurant would not give any further comment to NBC affiliate WDSU.
