President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama have chosen Chicago’s historic Jackson Park as the site for the Obama Presidential Center, it was revealed on Wednesday.

The center, which will house both the Obama Presidential Museum and Library, was expected to be located in one of two parks on Chicago’s South Side. The other finalist location was Washington Park.

The news was first reported by Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times, and a source familiar with the process confirmed the decision to NBC News.

The center is expected to be completed in 2020 or 2021, according to NBC Chicago.

The Barack Obama Foundation announced Chicago as the future home for the presidential library last year. It will be designed by Tod Williams Billie Tsien Architects, a New York-based architectural firm that also designed the David Logan Center for the Arts at the University of Chicago.
