62-Year-Old Woman Killed in 2-Alarm Fire at Multi-Story Home

The cause of the deadly fire remains under investigation

A 62-year-old Boston woman pulled from her burning home by firefighters has died.

A spokesman for the Boston Fire Department says firefighters arrived at the woman's Dorchester home just after 6 a.m. Thursday to find smoke.

They found the woman inside on the bottom floor of the two-story, single-family home and took her out to be attended by emergency medical technicians. She was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. Family members identified her as Elizabeth Adams.

The department spokesman says firefighters had to shovel out one hydrant still buried snow, causing them to lose a couple minutes in the rescue.

The cause of the two-alarm blaze, which caused an estimated $250,000 in damage, remains under investigation.
