Qantas Airbus A380 Turns Back to Los Angeles After Water Leak

A passenger jet was forced to turn back to Los Angeles early Wednesday after a water leak turned the aisles into "rivers" while cruising at 30,000 feet over the Pacific Ocean. Video footage showed water rushing through the cabin of the Qantas Airbus A380 flying to Melbourne, Australia. Frightened passengers said the crew switched off some of the plane’s electrical functions and that some people were soaked by water dripping on them from above. The airline said the leak started an hour into the flight and the aircraft landed safely again about an hour and a half later.

Qantas spokeswoman Sharna Rhys-Jones told NBC News that the leak was drinking water and there was never any danger to passenger safety. The captain made the decision to turn around on the grounds of passenger comfort, she added. Yvette Nicole Brown, who stars in the NBC show "Community," was aboard the flight. The actress tweeted that there was a "river" running down both aisles.
