Rosie O'Donnell said on Twitter Tuesday that her missing 17-year-old daughter has been found and is safe.

"Chelsea has been found and is safe in police custody — thank u all for the help and light," O’Donnell said shortly before 6:30 p.m. ET Tuesday.

O'Donnell said in a blog post earlier in the day that her daughter, Chelsea O'Donnell, was missing.

South Nyack, New York, police said Chelsea was found safe in New Jersey. Police were on the way Tuesday to pick up the 17-year-old and her dog, "Bear."

Chelsea O'Donnell had been last seen a week ago, the TV personality said in a post to her website. She said the girl "stopped taking her medicine and is in need of medical attention," and was last seen with her therapy dog.

Chelsea was officially reported missing to South Nyack police by her family on Sunday, after she didn't come home Aug. 11, police said.

South Nyack Police Sgt. Daniel Wilson told NBC New York that police learned Chelsea may be in Barnegat Light, and Barnegat police went to the home where she was found safe. Barnegat police Lt. Keith Germain told the station she and her dog left with police without incident.

"Rosie wants to thank everyone for their help, especially the South Nyack, NY and Barneget Light, NJ police departments," O'Donnell's spokesperson, Berger, Cindi, said in a statement Tuesday evening.

O'Donnell, 53, stepped down earlier this year from her second run as a panelist on "The View."
