Emergency personnel responded after the ride, which suspends riders in the air as it spins around, malfunctioned and toppled over at Beech Bend Park in Bowling Green Saturday evening, according to the Warren County Sheriff's department.

The extent of the injuries was not yet known, but no fatalities have been reported. Some children were among the injured, police confirmed.

Most of the injured did not require ambulances and were instead transported to the hospital in private vehicles, police said.

The cause of the malfunction is still unclear. A state agency will be dispatched to the scene to investigate the ride.
