Sheriff's Deputy Charged With Prostituting Wife

A sheriff’s deputy and SWAT team member in Washington state was arrested Thursday on charges he helped his wife work as a prostitute.

Darrion Holiwell, a 19-year veteran of the King County Sheriff’s Office, is charged with second-degree promoting prostitution, first-degree theft and violating the uniform controlled substances act, according to NBC affiliate KING 5.

Holiwell, 49, allegedly physically abused his wife and promoted her as an escort on the website backpage.com. He is also charged with using and distributing steroids, and with stealing thousands of pounds of brass and bullets from the police firing range and selling them to gun shops.

The allegations came to light in April, after Holiwell’s current wife called the deputy’s ex-wife and complained about the alleged abuse and prostitution. The ex-wife then told a friend who worked at the sheriff’s office, and that person notified authorities, the station reported.
