Two children were injured in a domestic-violence shooting outside a Nevada daycare that claimed the lives of their parents, police said.
The fatal shooting unfolded early Thursday outside of the Kids Campus Learning Center in North Las Vegas.
Police said it appears that the father arrived at the daycare "moments" after the mother had come to drop off their two children. Witnesses then reported gunfire.
Officers responding to the scene found the 27-year-old mother and 40-year-old father dead from apparent gunshot wounds, the department said in a statement.
The two children — aged three and four — sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were brought to a local hospital, police added.
Police did not identify the victims or children and it was not immediately clear who fired the shots.
The Kids Campus Learning Center said it was working with police with regard to the "domestic violence incident" and extended "thoughts and payers" to the children involved.
"It is tragic that isolated, random acts such as this can happen anywhere," the daycare said in a statement.
