Six Die in Mobile Home Fire in North Carolina

Six people died when a fire ripped through their mobile home early Saturday in North Carolina, police said.

The names and ages of the dead were not immediately released, but the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that the fire broke out at 1 a.m. ET just outside Garland, a small town of just over 800 people about 35 miles southeast of Fayetteville. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and no foul play is suspected, authorities said.

"It's just going to be a tragic loss for the family," Jimmie Wilson, the brother of one of the victims, told NBC affiliate WNCN. "It's just a time where we all have to pray together." Neighbors told the station that by the time they awoke and realized something was wrong, the fast-moving fire had already completely engulfed the mobile home.
